Homework Policy:
- Weekly Homework: Each week the student will be required to have 150 minutes of reading, a response to their reading, and math DreamBox assignments. Additional homework will be given on a daily basis and will be an extension of classroom work. The harder the student works in class, the less homework at home! In addition to weekly homework, regular "Passion Project" will be assigned.
- Planner: The student will write classwork/homework and the due date in their planner. The student is expected to have their work turned in on the correct due date. The student is responsible for his/her homework.
- Incomplete/late work: If the student is missing one assignment, for one day, no penalty will be given. If excessive amounts of work are missing, or the student has not turned in an assignment for several days, the student will miss his/her afternoon recess until it is complete. Parents will be notified of the issue in advance. If missing work becomes a regular issue, the student, teacher, parents, and principal will have a meeting to resolve the issue.
- Missed work due to illness or planned vacation: Students are required to make up missed work. I do not give work in advance for planned absences, as lesson plans often change based on student need. For every day a student is absent, the student will have one day to make up the work. For long term assignments, the due date stands and the student will turn in the assignment on the day they return. Special circumstances for the rules may be applied on rare occasions after student/teacher/parent agreements.
